Prescot Closing Down
As the Recession deepens, caused by the Banks and their reckless ways, Prescot has lost more and more of it's once vibrant high street shops. They've not been helped either by the enormous Tesco Extra that is only 300 yards behind the town centre. Prescot -- Closing Down

TJ Hughes is a regional retailer in the North West of England. It's know all over simply as "TJ's". You can think of it as the equivalent of JC Penny's of the USA, and as such, it can be considered as a Lancashire & Merseyside institution; its stores are everywhere in the region. Sadly, the company is in receivership and will cease trading as soon as it's stocks are exhausted. Another victim of the Banking Crisis? T J Hughes 5

All that's left, just about, of the coal mining in Merseyside. It's believed that St Helens' first deep mines were sunk over 500 years ago. There's still coal, lots of it, but no one wants to mine it. And they say there's an energy crisis: Great Britain has at least 300 years of coal reserves. Long Live the Workers!

Founded in 1857, Liverpool St Helens is the world's oldest Open Rugby Club. Back then, "football" had not been divided into soccer and rugby, which is why LSH is an "F.C.". It is proud of its heritage, tradition and its amateur status. Liverpool St Helens FC: Rugby Registration Day 2011
